Puerto del Carmen is the biggest and the most famous tourist center of Lanzarote. But where exactly does it begin and does it end? There are three beautiful beaches between the ancient fishermen’s village on the south and the airport on the north. These beaches are: Playa Blanca, Playa de los Pocillos and Playa Matagorda with the sea promenade in between, full of palm trees and hibiscus bushes. While walking here you may admire golden sand and ocean waves. When you leave the ocean behind your back you will see quite different view: hotels and apartments, shops, pizzerias, Chinese bars, various restaurants, barbecues and British pubs. You may have a walk until the lovely old port. You will see fishermen’s boats and cruises by the jetty and higher, above the port there are plenty of the small winding streets which lead to the top of the slope. The Canarian everyday life meets here the never ending atmosphere of the festival, someone’s looking at the ocean, someone’s buying souvenirs, people are sitting in bars and drinking the local wine.
